Miss Daigle - Who is she?
I am Ms. Amber Daigle, and I have worked at Tourtellotte Memorial High School in the English department for 3 years. I now teach Language Arts Intervention, Public Speaking, and Journalism (first semester only). I am thankful for being able to work with a supportive, diverse, and knowledgeable staff and administration. I'd like to begin autobiography with a few personal points of interest, and I'll end with information about myself as an English teacher.
I am from the "Quiet Corner" of Northeastern Connecticut. I enjoy the winter months because I'm an avid skier and was a ski instructor at Okemo Mountain in Ludlow, VT. I, like any English teacher, love to read and write. One of my long-term goals is to write a novel, and I'm in the process of publishing a children's book. Music fascinates me, and I incorporate it into my classroom. The first generation iPod was one of the greatest gifts I've ever received. Lastly, I have a relative in the school! My dad, Mr. Guy Daigle, is an art teacher at TMHS, and he continues to excel at both his profession and his art. He is a kind and supportive person as well as an admirable role model.
Professionally, my career began in college. I graduated from University of Connecticut (Storrs) in 2007 with a BA in English and a minor in Psychology. I immediately began my Master's work in teaching; I graduated from Sacred Heart University with a MAT (Secondary English). My Master's Project was a longitudinal study and comprehensive report on the optimal means of measuring learning, especially in students with learning disabilities. Thus, students will find I use a variety of tools in the classroom to enhance learning. Personally, my favorite trick is capturing students' attention with a story that reflects the material. Their job is drawing connections and producing their own ideas and harvesting integrity.
