Information on the Flipped Classroom
The Flipped Classroom Utilizes Technology & Encourages Differentiated Learning
I will be implementing flipped classroom ideology in my classroom as a resource, not a be-all, end-all solution to teaching. Here's what my classroom will, ideally, look like!
Students will be able to view both short lectures and skill-based videos prior to lessons. This allows students to work at their own pace and appeals to visual and kinesthetic learners. For instance, if students are to present information on World War II using Prezi, they might watch an instructional video on how to use Prezis. The technologically savvy student might only need to watch the video once, if at all, while a less technologically experienced student might watch the video a few times while working with the new presentation tool. I, as their teacher and educational coach, circulate the room and provide support and direction while the students are working at their own paces. This maximizes time-on-task and provides students with immediate one-on-one feedback.
